Hood Warfare 2 beginner's guide
Last updated: · By Turfopedia Crew
To start Hood Warfare 2, buy it on Steam ($5.99), make sure you are on the latest version (shown bottom-right of the menu; fully exit Steam if it will not update), then set your loadout before your first match. You unlock weapons and equipment by leveling up, attachments through weapon challenges, and skins from kills.
First 30 minutes checklist
| Step | What to do | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Check version (1.0.1.4 or newer) | Patch 1.0.1.4 fixed false anti-cheat kicks and join crashes |
| 2 | Pick an audio output device in settings | Official fix for the "no audio" issue |
| 3 | Set push-to-talk (T) or open mic | Voice chat was added in 1.0.10, team or whole lobby |
| 4 | Play a bot match | Custom matches let you pick map, mode and fill teams with bots |
| 5 | Save a loadout preset | Perks and equipment are chosen before a match |
How does progression work?
| Unlock | How you earn it |
|---|---|
| Weapons and equipment | Reputation: play matches and level up |
| Attachments (sights, mags, grips, suppressors) | Weapon challenges |
| Weapon skins | Kills with each gun |
Beginner tips
- Learn one map at a time: each has different routes and positions, indoors and out.
- Start in Turf War or GangBang, where team play covers mistakes; Destroy The Block gives you one life per round.
- Spawn protection was added on Oct 12, but small maps such as Supermarket still have a short time-to-kill, so play corners.
- Report cheaters from the pause menu; the developer says it reviews reports and bans repeat offenders.
- Want to practise with friends? Private password-only lobbies arrived in patch 1.0.1.4.
Next: all six modes and the maps.
